بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى بَرَكَةِ اللَّهِ
Bismillahi wa 'ala barakatillah
In the Name of Allah, and with the blessings of Allah.
A fuller version of the before-eating du'a that adds "'ala barakatillah" — seeking Allah's barakah over the meal. Barakah in food means a small portion satisfies, nourishes the body without harm, and gives energy for worship rather than sluggishness. The Prophet ﷺ said that when you say Bismillah before eating, Shaytan cannot partake in your food. Without it, he sits at the table and eats with you. Two words transform every meal from a biological necessity into an act of worship and a fortress against the unseen.
