اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
O Allah, send us relief. O Allah, send us relief. O Allah, send us relief.
During the istisqa' prayer, the Prophet ﷺ would raise his hands so high that the whiteness of his armpits was visible — and he would reverse his hands (palms facing down, then up) as a symbolic gesture of asking the sky's condition to change. "Aghithna" — give us ghawth (rescue/relief) — is the language of desperation. It is not a polite request; it is a cry for help from the only One who controls the clouds.
