Gratitude for Parents

Allahummaj'al hadha sadaqatan jariyatan 'an walidayy

O Allah, make this an ongoing charity on behalf of my parents.

SahihSahih Muslim 1631

The Prophet ﷺ said: "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him." This du'a turns any good deed into ongoing charity for your parents — whether alive or deceased. It can be said when donating, building, teaching, or doing any act of goodness.

O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, grant him well-being, pardon him, honor his reception, expand his entrance, and wash him with water, snow, and hail. Cleanse him of sins and wrongdoings as a white garment is cleansed of filth. Grant him an abode better than his home, a family better than his family, and a spouse better than his spouse. Admit him to Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire.
