Gratitude for Parents

Idha mata al-insanu inqata'a 'anhu 'amaluhu illa min thalathah: illa min sadaqatin jariyah, aw 'ilmin yuntafa'u bih, aw waladin salihin yad'u lah

When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.

SahihSahih Muslim 1631

The most important hadith about parents and children. After death, all deeds stop — except three. The third is "a righteous child who prays for them." This means YOU are your parents' ongoing investment. Every du'a you make for them after their death adds to their account. You are their sadaqah jariyah in human form. The question is: are you the kind of child who remembers to pray for them?
