Allahummaj'al baynana mawaddatan wa rahmatan wa sakinah, wa allif bayna qulubina waj'alna qurrata a'yunin li-ba'dina

O Allah, place between us affection, mercy, and tranquility. Unite our hearts and make us the coolness of each other's eyes.

SahihBased on Quran 30:21 and 25:74

This du'a weaves together two Quranic marriage concepts. From Surah Ar-Rum (30:21): mawaddah (active love — choosing to show affection), rahmah (tender mercy — being gentle even when you don't feel like it), and sakinah (tranquility — the deep peace of being with your person). From Surah Al-Furqan (25:74): qurrata a'yun — coolness of the eyes, meaning the sight of your spouse brings you calm relief. Love fluctuates, but mercy sustains. When the honeymoon phase fades, rahmah is what keeps couples together — the choice to be kind even when the feeling of love is quiet. This du'a asks for the complete marital package described in the Quran.
