O Allah, let it be rain of mercy, not rain of punishment, nor calamity, nor destruction, nor flooding.
Rain comes in two forms: suqya rahmah (watering of mercy — gentle, life-giving) and suqya 'adhab (watering of punishment — floods, destruction, as with the people of Nuh). This du'a explicitly asks for the first and seeks refuge from the second. Four specific harms are named: punishment, calamity, building destruction, and drowning — covering every way rain can turn deadly.
