O Allah, we place You before them (as our shield) and we seek refuge in You from their evil.
This du'a was taught for when you fear a people or an enemy. "We place You in their throats" — meaning You are our frontline defense, the barrier between us and them. It was used by the Companions before confrontations and during times of political persecution. Short, powerful, and deeply trusting.
