Gratitude for Parents

Rabbigh-fir li wa liwalidayya wa liman dakhala baytiya mu'minan wa lil-mu'minina wal-mu'minat

My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house as a believer, and the believing men and believing women.

SahihQuran 71:28

The complete du'a of Nuh (AS) — the longest-serving prophet (950 years of calling his people to Allah). The circle of forgiveness expands outward in concentric rings: self, parents, household believers, then all believing men and women across time. Nuh placed his parents second only to himself in the chain of mercy, despite millennia of prophetic mission. The du'a also includes future people — "whoever enters my house" — extending forgiveness to guests yet to arrive. It is a model of generosity in du'a: start with yourself, honor your parents, then cast the net as wide as the entire Ummah.
