غُفْرَانَكَ
Ghufranaka
I seek Your forgiveness.
Aisha (RA) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ would say this when leaving the bathroom. Scholars explain the wisdom: you ask forgiveness because you were in a place where you could not remember Allah, or because relieving oneself reminds us of the blessings of health we take for granted.
Related Du'as
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ
Glory to the One who has subjected this for us, and we could never have it by our own efforts. And indeed, to our Lord we will surely return.
Sahihالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الدِّيَارِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ بِكُمْ لَاحِقُونَ نَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ لَنَا وَلَكُمُ الْعَافِيَةَ
Peace be upon you, O inhabitants of these dwellings, believers and Muslims. Indeed, we will, Allah willing, join you. We ask Allah for well-being for us and for you.
Sahihلَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
There is no deity except Allah, alone without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is the Ever-Living who does not die. In His hand is all good, and He is over all things capable.
Hasanبِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
In the Name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I ask You from Your bounty.
