رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbana innana amanna faghfir lana dhunubana wa qina 'adhaban-Nar
Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
The du'a of the "people of understanding" described in Surah Aal-Imran — those who reflect on creation and say: "Our Lord, You have not created this in vain." Their faith leads to a request for forgiveness, not a request for rewards. The sequence matters: belief first, then confession of sin, then seeking protection. Mature faith does not claim perfection — it claims forgiveness.

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
I seek the forgiveness of Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, and I repent to Him.
Sahihرَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.
Sahihأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
I seek Allah's forgiveness and I repent to Him. (The Prophet ﷺ used to say this more than 100 times a day.)
Sahihرَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy on us, and You are the best of the merciful.
