اللَّهُمَّ حَبِّبْ إِلَيْنَا أَهْلَنَا وَحَبِّبْنَا إِلَيْهِمْ وَأَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِنَا

Allahumma habbib ilayna ahlana wa habbibna ilayhim wa allif bayna qulubina

O Allah, make our family beloved to us and make us beloved to them, and unite our hearts.

SahihSahih al-Bukhari 1889 (adapted — original refers to Madinah), Abu Dawud 969

The Prophet ﷺ made a similar du'a for Madinah when the Companions initially struggled to love it: "O Allah, make Madinah beloved to us as You made Makkah beloved to us, or more." Scholars have adapted this mutual-love du'a for family relations: asking Allah to put love in both directions and then to unite the hearts. Love is not always natural or automatic — sometimes it needs divine intervention. A parent and child may love each other yet feel disconnected. Spouses may care but struggle to communicate. This du'a asks Allah to engineer affection between family members whose hearts have grown distant, and to align them in harmony.
