Assalamu 'alaykum ahlad-diyari minal-mu'minina wal-Muslimin, wa inna in sha'Allahu bikum lahiqun. Nas'alullaha lana wa lakumul-'afiyah

Peace be upon you, O inhabitants of these dwellings, believers and Muslims. Indeed, we will, Allah willing, join you. We ask Allah for well-being for us and for you.

SahihSahih Muslim 975

The greeting when entering a graveyard. You address the dead as residents of their "dwellings" — acknowledging they are home, not gone. "We will join you" — the most sobering phrase in the Islamic tradition, said casually but carrying the weight of certainty. And then: "We ask for 'afiyah for us AND for you" — they still need your du'as, and you still need protection.
