O Allah, guide me among those whom You have guided, grant me well-being among those whom You have granted well-being, take me into Your care among those whom You have taken into Your care, bless me in what You have given me, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. For You decree and none can decree over You. None whom You have befriended shall be humiliated, and none whom You have opposed shall be honored. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.
The du'a of Qunut, recited in the Witr prayer — the last prayer of the night. The Prophet ﷺ taught this to his grandson Al-Hasan ibn Ali (RA). Five requests that cover everything: guidance, well-being, protection, blessing in provisions, and safety from the harm in what Allah has decreed. Then the powerful declaration: whoever You befriend cannot be humiliated, whoever You oppose cannot succeed. It is the du'a of someone who understands that all power, all honor, and all protection flow from one source.
