Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. Allahumma ajurni fi musibati wa akhlif li khayran minha
Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. O Allah, reward me for my affliction and replace it with something better.
Umm Salamah (RA) narrated that when her husband Abu Salamah died, she said this du'a — but thought: "Who could be better than Abu Salamah?" Allah replaced him with the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself, who married her. She said: "Allah indeed gave me someone better." The du'a works for every loss — health, wealth, relationships. Ask for the reward in the loss and the replacement after it.
