Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-faqri wal-qillati wadh-dhillah, wa a'udhu bika min an adhlima aw udhlam

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from poverty, scarcity, and humiliation, and I seek refuge in You from wronging others or being wronged.

SahihAbu Dawud 1544, An-Nasa'i 5460

The Prophet ﷺ would regularly seek refuge from these five things. Poverty and scarcity are paired because one is the absence of wealth and the other is the absence of resources. Humiliation follows — because financial hardship in any society can lead to loss of dignity. Then he pivots: he also seeks protection from wronging others or being wronged. The du'a connects financial vulnerability with moral vulnerability — when you are desperate, you are more likely to wrong others, and when you are weak, you are more likely to be wronged. Financial stability is thus a moral safeguard.
