اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَمْلِكُهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ
Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlika wa rahmatika fa innahu la yamlikuha illa Ant
O Allah, I ask You for Your bounty and mercy, for none possesses them except You.
This du'a asks for fadl (bounty) and rahmah (mercy) — and then adds a profound qualifier: "for none possesses them except You." It cuts off all hope in anything other than Allah. No employer, no government, no savings account possesses fadl and rahmah — only Allah does. When you internalize this, your du'a becomes more sincere because you stop expecting provision from human sources. People are channels; Allah is the Source. This du'a realigns your heart to ask the only One who actually has what you need.
