Gratitude & Praise

All praise is due to Allah, who fed us, gave us drink, sufficed us, and sheltered us. For how many have no one to suffice them or shelter them!

SahihSahih Muslim 2715

The Prophet ﷺ used to say this at the end of the day, combining gratitude with perspective. The first half counts four daily blessings: food, drink, sufficiency, and shelter. The second half — "For how many have no one to suffice them or shelter them!" — shatters any sense of entitlement. It forces you to look past your own table and see the millions who have no table at all. The du'a transforms a routine evening moment into an act of profound awareness. You are not just praising Allah; you are acknowledging that what feels ordinary to you is extraordinary to someone else.
